Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Warren Campus is a licensed 203 bed facility located in Warren, Michigan.  It is one of the major osteopathic health care providers in Michigan.  It is the oldest osteopathic training hospital in Michigan and offers a full range of clinical services including general medicine, surgery, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, ambulatory surgery, hospice, and 24-hour emergency care.

The hospital is located on the northwest corner of 10 Mile Road and Schoenherr Road.

Parking

Enter hospital grounds using the Schoenherr Road entrance.  The employee parking lot will be located directly to the right.  No pass is needed to park in this lot.  Do not park in any areas designated for visitors or the Medical Building East Parking Lot.

Items for the First Day

Please bring a $10.00 deposit for your Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Warren Campus ID badge.  This will be refunded to you upon surrender of your badge at the end of your clinicals.

Security Information

Your school’s ID badge, along with a Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Warren Campus’s ID badge, must be worn at all times while on the hospital grounds.

Faculty Information

Clinical Instructors must contact Jennifer Curl in Nursing Education (586-759-7585) at least 1 week prior to start of their clinicals.  Clinical Instructors will be required to pass a Pharmacology Exam (with a minimum score of 80%) prior to passing medications with students.  A study guide is available.  An orientation binder will also be distributed to the instructors for use and reference.  Temporary access codes must be requested through Nursing Education.

Nursing Units


1 North Telemetry Unit

Unit Description

This is a 31 bed telemetry unit specializing in the care of adult cardiopulmonary conditions, heart failure, and any medical/surgical conditions that requires telemetry monitoring.  The major patient populations admitted have the following diagnoses:  coronary artery disease, unstable angina, acute MI, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, status-post pacemaker insertion, COPD, respiratory failure, pneumonia, and sepsis.  The most common co-morbidities are the following:  hypertension, diabetes, and chronic renal failure.



2 South Medical-Surgical Unit

Unit Description

This is a 39 bed unit specializing in the care of adult medical-surgical patients.  The major patient populations admitted have the following diagnosis:  diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, pneumonia, chronic pulmonary disorders, alcohol abuse related illnesses, sepsis, cellulitis, traumatic injuries, spinal fusions, gynecological surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and hospice patients. 



3 South Telemetry, Bariatric, and Stroke Unit

Unit Description

This is a 35 bed medical-surgical telemetry unit which has an imbedded 5 bed Bariatric Unit and an 8 bed Stroke Unit.  The major patient populations admitted have the following diagnoses:  COPD, diabetes, DVT, anemia, abdominal pain, endocrine imbalances, gastrointestinal bleeding, cancer, respiratory insufficiency, blood dyscrasia, pneumonia, status-post TIA and stroke, and bariatric surgeries.  The Bariatric Unit is designated as a Center of Excellence.



Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

Unit Description

This is a 34 bed unit specializing in the rehabilitation of adult patients.  Patients served on this unit have impaired functional abilities as a result of medical, surgical, and/or physical conditions.  Services provided for patients in diagnostic categories include the following:  orthopedics, vascular, trauma, general medical-surgical, neurological, and geriatric conditions.  This is a CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehab Facility) designated unit.
