ACE PLACEMENT is a web-based system which will provide Michigan healthcare and educational institutions with an automated clearing house for all clinical placements for students.

System Goals...

  • Save significant hours of time and paperwork for faculty and administrative staff at educational institutions and clinical partners.
  • Increase significantly the utilization of clinical sites by having available information about all unused placements.
  • Increase number of clinical training placements.
  • Create a master schedule for clinical experiences.
  • Create one point of contact for clinical placements.
  • Eliminate scheduling conflicts and overlaps.
In 2007, the Michigan Health and Hospital Association convened representatives from several health care systems and educational institutions in Southeast Michigan. The goal was to address issues which limit the number of students who can be trained to be healthcare professionals. The result was the creation of ACE, the Alliance for Clinical Experience, which is a collaborative effort between clinical and educational partners. This partnership creates technological solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the flow of students through their clinical placement experience. ACE is comprised of two new systems:

  • ACE PLACEMENT: A web-based clearing house for clinical placements
  • ACE PASSPORT: A web-based system which provides students with a passport for clinical placements

ACE has been initially funded by the six healthcare systems in SE Michigan, federal funds obtained through the Office of the Chief Nurse Executive for the State of Michigan and a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation. ACE will be operated by MHC and will be offered on a statewide basis. The two ACE systems will be implemented in SE Michigan in Spring 2008 and in other regions of the state later in 2008/2009.
